However, the drain-pipe accommodations, situated in a grassy park, offer a new twist on affordability: With a “pay as you wish” policy, guests can determine their own bills.

At the Sand Hotel in Dorset, England, guests can stay in outdoor rooms constructed entirely of sand. You sleep under the stars, and wake as the “tide laps through your door.” There’s no bathroom, but that’s what the ocean’s for, right?
